13 On Your Side: Holland bridal store closes, leaving dozens of women unhappy
HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- Customers of a Holland bridal shop say they lost hundreds of dollars after the store closed abruptly and without notice.
WZZM 13 On Your Side received more than a dozen calls from customers who say they have invested hundreds of dollars in down payments for bridal dresses at Diane Keith Bridal.
"It's supposed to be the happiest time in a girl's life when she goes shopping for her wedding dress," said bride-to-be Stephanie Machiele. "For a bridal shop to take that away from you... I've been using the word disgusting a lot."
Machiele put down a $500 deposit for her dress at Diane Keith. In all, she says her wedding party has more than a $1,000 invested at the store. Her wedding is in May.
"We were never notified," Machiele said. "I feel dread, disappointment, disgust. It's a flood of emotions really."
Melissa Beltran went through a similar ordeal. Her party of eight bride's maids each paid around $100 for deposits on their dresses. In all, $800 were left tied up in the store.
