Stationery designer's work recognized by industry
Sarah Pattison, owner of The Happy Envelope on Union Avenue, prides herself on attention to detail.
Whether it's a bit of twine tied around the fold of a wedding invitation or a medley of fonts on birth announcements, the stationery designer revels in helping clients mix design elements to set the tone for their event.
Pattison recently received the Best Birthday Party Invitation award from Crane and Co. paper company for a bright carnival-inspired letterpress invitation she created for a 4-year-old's fall birthday party. The invitation was featured on the stationery design blog Oh So Beautiful Paper in October and caught the attention of Crane and Co. Pattison says they picked five top designs for 2011. They also gave awards for the best use of color, understated elegance, business cards and wedding invitations.
The colorful invitation features a mix of vintage-style fonts, stripes and a coordinating design on the backside, which is one of Pattison's signature touches. It fits inside a green box with a ribbon and lollipop for mailing.

If I was going that route, I'd go buy a cheap publisher program. In fact is you already have a full version of MS Office you'll have Publisher. Once you have the program you can design your cards. Most programs have templates to get you started if you
